Karishma Tanna will share screen space with Sunny leone in Tina and lolo. She tells K Bhardwaj how she trained herself to jump over cars and ride a Harley Davidson bike

You have seen her doing bubbly and cheerful characters on TV and films so far. Now Karishma Tanna is ready for an image makeover. Get ready to see her in out and out action avatar in her next, Tina and lolo, which also stars Sunny leone. “It is really exciting. I have never played such a solid character on screen before,” she says. Tanna will be shooting guns, jumping on cars and hitting the boys. “We will be doing all what is expected only from heroes,” she says. To prepare for the role, she underwent a month-long rigorous training schedule. “I was trained to punch, kick, jump and how to hold a gun. It was really exciting as well as dangerous. By the end of it, I was all black and blue and still have some injuries. Also, I will be riding a Harley Davidson bike. Till now, I could only ride cycle or a kinetic scooter,” she tells us.

Tina and lolo is a story of two strangers (female) who come under one roof and fight the odd circumstances. Sunny leone plays a typical Indian girl, but will also be seen fighting. “Her character is quite colourful. She is very soft yet tough when it comes to fighting. My character is more rustic and strong-headed. I enjoyed it as I like punching boys,” she quips.

Tanna was last seen in Grand Masti. She has quit TV but won’t mind doing any interesting non-fiction show. “I have stopped fiction since I cannot be stuck to one show for a long time. If anything interesting comes up like anchoring of some reality show, then I will do it,” says the actor who began her career with Balaji’s Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. “I owe my career to Ekta Kapoor. Whatever I am today is because of her,” she says humbly.

On her chemistry with leone, she says they both gel pretty well. “She is very nice and an honest personality. I cannot stand fake people. She is genuine, humble and a hard working soul,” she shares. The film has been shot in Mumbai for 10 days. The remaining part will be shot next month in Russia. The 28-year-old recalled one scene which required both the actors engaged in stunts on the bike. “We had to ride as well as fire the rifles at the goons. I was looking in front and Sunny was hitting at the rear. We were sitting in opposite directions. We were on the verge of meeting an accident several times. But I am very proud of the final output that has come,” she says.

Tanna, who comes from a Gujarati family, is glad that a lot of women are doing some serious action stunts. Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif will be seen in breathtaking action sequences in their forthcoming movies. “I think filmmakers have understood that actresses too can perform action as any other actor,” she says.
