After introducing the black and red burgers, Barcelos has crafted white burgers with a concoction of coconut and milk. Riya Sharma checks in
White bun made with the mixture of milk powder and coconut, layer of delicate chicken patty that dissolves in your mouth, the right amount of vegetables like mushroom, capsicum and onion with a handful of your favourite peri peri sauce...this is what the new range of Barcelos’ white burger is offering to lure foodies in town.
Barcelos has already given a twist to its quintessential brown burgers by rolling out a series of black and red burgers. And we think the chain is again on an experimental spree as it launched its very new and delicate white burger in town.
General Manager (operations), Rohit Malhotra, pointed out the only difference in the white bun. “We don’t bake it during the whole process. Also we bake the bun at a low temperature but for a longer period of time with short intervals in between so that the bread doesn’t become brown. We add coconut and milk powder to the process,” he said.
As we ordered our chicken white burger and peach iced tea, what followed was a visual treat. Turned out the iced tea was a molecular drink, a combination of nitrogen gas and dry ice which smoked up the glass.
We liked the return of colesaw to enhance the flavour of the burger which is soft and tender. Unlike the black and red, which have mutton mince as well, this variant will be sticking to chicken.
Veggie lovers need not worry about fattening potato patties as the Barcelos ones come with soya and chana mix. “We have tried to give it a flavour of shammi kebab by adding channa and vegetables,” said Sushil, manager of Barcelos.
For those who love their burgers composite without distracting add ons, the white burger topped with crunchy coconut shavings is a real treat.
One can enjoy their white veg burgers at Rs175 and white chicken burgers at Rs215.
