Tears of happiness” is what actor Salman Khan guaranteed to the fans and onlookers when they watch his forthcoming film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, set to release this Diwali.
“The same maker (Sooraj Barjatya) who made films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Apke Hain Koun!, Hum Saath Saath Hain, has made this film with me and this one is better than those three films. It is a full on family film with a feel good vibe. It is guaranteed that with whatever mood you enter the cinema hall, you’ll come out feeling much happier,” said the Bhaijaan of B-town during a press conference of PRDP’s song Aaj Unse launch with his co-star Sonam Kapoor.
Sooraj Barjatya, who delivered hits with sanskaari sons and bahus in Hum Apke Hain Koun!, has had a cult following throughout the 90’s, but will PRDP manage to attract the same amount of attention in the age of massy films with avant-garde storylinesIJ
Khan responded with, “I'm sure your mother, dad and grandparents are going to go watch the film. The Rajshri and Sooraj Barjatya audience is still there. All the people who grew up in the 90s... and all those who’ve seen Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Apke Hain Kaun et al., they’ll definitely go and see this movie and I'm 100 per cent sure of this. Most of those people, apart from me, must’ve been married by now and have children so they’ll take their kids along.”
Actress Sonam Kapoor, who has finally entered the Barjatya film league, call working on PRDP as “a beautiful experience”. “This is the biggest film of my career. I'm very lucky that I got this opportunity. I’m very happy and grateful to the Barjatyas especially Sooraj ji. It’s quite amazing that I get to work with Salman Khan,” Kapoor gushed.
The Raanjhanaa actress also got to hear of various incidents of stars like Bhagyashree, Sonali Bendre, Madhuri, et al. who co-starred with Salman Khan in films under the Rajshri banner.
“like Bhagyashree’s or Sonali’s reference would come up while we were shooting, toh inka (Sonam) bhi ayega. When I and Sooraj go to promote our next film with my co-star, Sonam will probably be married by then, then her reference would also come up,” the 49-year-old actor laughed.
On the recent issue of “extreme violence in India” raised by actor Shah Rukh Khan and various artists returning their prestigious awards, Salman nonchalantly repeated, “My mother’s name is Sushila Charak and my father is Salim Khan. My name is Salman Khan and her name is Sonam Kapoor.”
This is not the right platform. I’m here to promote the film. I don’t want Sooraj Barjatya, Rajshri Productions to get affected by this. I believe that we are all Indians, we are all humans and we should love each other and live together. That is what my organisation Being Human is about. We don’t go on asking who are you and where are you from and I don't believe in this at all,” he clearly stated.
Sonam Kapoor, then took charge and came to her co-star’s rescue by immediately jumping in with, “I will answer that question. I think it will be better if I answer that question. Anything that is intolerant or anything that is said without correct evidence is completely unacceptable. So people just saying things in the name of religion, class, creed is totally disgusting and I think we should rest what we have to say at this point and talk aboutPRDP which is a film about love, tolerance, brothers and sisters. I think Salman answered really well and that’s about it.”
The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor then pitched in, “We are all here, does it even make a difference who is sitting here. Does it matterIJ Hindustani hain sab ke sab and have you heard of... ”
Kapoor echoed his sentiment with “Hindu-Muslim bhai-bhai”.
