Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has always been at the forefront of social responsibility work.
POWERGRID’s CSR includes works related to health, rural development, education, environment and more to contribute to the integrated development of the country.
Accordingly, POWERGRID had undertaken the CSR project of organising sewing training for women living below the poverty line in Sec-10A, Gurugram. The project included imparting six months of training to these women and distributing sewing machines to all the beneficiaries upon completion of the course. The six months training was successfully imparted but the distribution of sewing machines to the beneficiaries was withheld due to the spread of Covid-19.
Keeping in view the controlled situation of Covid 19, an event was organised on February 24 at Community Centre, Sector 10A, Gurugram where chief guest, Smt Annu Kumari Mishra distributed the Sewing Machines and training certificates to these beneficiaries. On this occasion, Sh. A.K. Mishra, executive director, POWERGRID, NR-I, Shri Sanjay Sharma, Sr GM, Shri P N Ghildiyal, Sr GM and other senior officials from POWERGRID were also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mishra reiterated POWERGRID’s commitment to contributing to the development of the nation as a whole by working towards the wellbeing and upliftment of the various sections of society. He emphasised that working towards the skill development of society is the need of the hour. He also asserted that acquiring this additional vocational skill will help women gain confidence, become self-reliant and increase their income by pursuing tailoring as a career.
While interacting with the chief guest, Smt Annu Kumari Mishra appreciated the efforts of POWERGRID and emphasised that this newly acquired skill shall enhance the overall quality of their life and their family members.
