Star Plus’ Har Udaan Ek Toofan will capture a woman’s struggle to find her feet in the very male aviation industry
Inspired by the success of Diya Aur Baati, which has an IPS woman officer as a protagonist Star Plus is ready to offer yet another woman achiever in Har Udaan Ek Toofan. The promos have already generated buzz showing Tulip Joshi handling an emergency landing. The actor, best known for her debut in Yash Raj’s Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, says it was her dream to become pilot and she has achieved a part of it by enacting the role on screen. “Now I am going to live my dreams by shooting in airlines. When I initially got the offer, I took no time in accepting it,” said the actor.
The Delhi-set show is the journey of First Officer Ananya Rawat, played by Joshi, who tries to find her feet in the male-dominated aviation industry.
Joshi claims to have done serious homework for the show. She says, “I have gone through various websites researching and learning how to behave like a pilot. It took me time to learn pilots’ body language and get into the character.
The show also features VJ-turned-actor Yudhishthir, who plays the role of Captain Akash, Joshi’s co-pilot on the flight. The show, which has been written and conceptualised by Kahaani fame writer Advaita Kala, is a weekly and will air from August 24.
Since most of the show requires an aircraft set up, a special set modelled on Boeing 370 has been created by the producers. Joshi seems to be optimistic about the project and has kept two more shows pending, slated for next year. “TV is a great medium. I am an actor and the medium I use to connect to the audience does not matter till the time my viewers like my performance,” she says. The show has been produced by Miditech, who have previously made Air Force-based show Sara Akash.
“We have roped in pilots to train the actors, shot in real airports in order to maintain the authenticity of the show apart from the sets. We have also collaborated with Pixion for high-end VFX for the show,” Nikhil Alva from Miditech said.
The actress hopes that her show will bring a change in the mindset of people. “I hope mothers will understand that despite being part of any glamorous industry, their daughters can stick to her values. Daughters can balance personal and professional life,” she said.
