Mitali Nag, who was last seen as Krishna Singh inAfsar Bitiya, will be singing a song in Varun Middha’s Ebn-E-Batuta. She tells Divya Kaushik that she always dreamt of being a singer but won’t give up acting
Once she had her own girls band, Teen Musketranis, and she also participated in reality shows but singing took a backseat when she was offered to play the lead character, Krishna Singh, in Afsar Bitiya on Zee TV. The show gave her popularity and an identity in the industry. But once the show was over, she realised she has been missing a lot on the singing front. “Working for a daily soap is taxing. long working hours sometimes do not even allow you to spend enough time with family. So in such a situation it was almost impossible to continue with my singing. But once the show got over, I decided to start my training in music and look for more opportunities,” says Mitali. While she was looking for opportunities, an offer from Varun Middha, who also happens to be her friend, came. “He wanted me to sing a song Kaise Jaye Guzari, which is a lullaby, for his forthcoming film Ebn-E-Batuta. I recorded the song last year,” she informs,
Mitali earlier worked in shows like Mano Ya Na Mano and Wanted-High Alert. She says she never wanted to choose between the two careers. “Singing has been my passion and I enjoy being on the camera. I can’t say if it is singing or acting that’s closer to my heart but I want to continue with both as long as I am getting opportunities,” says Mitali and adds that at present, she is not thinking of being part of any TV show.
While she is busy taking singing lessons, Mitali is also reading scripts. “Thought it’s too early to announce anything, I have been considering movies. I am also planning to come up with the series of my own songs,” she ends.
