Having delivered since his debut, Tiger Shroff gets serious and breaks the routine in A Flying Jatt even as Jacqueline fernandez looks to entrench herself in the industry. By Jigyasu Joshi

Whether it’s Heropanti, Baaghi or now A Flying Jatt, Tiger Shroff is slowly occupying the superhero-action space in Hindi films and is quite ready to take over the baton from reigning action star Hritik Roshan. Even Akshay Kumar has relinquished that space following the success of his more character-driven      films  of late. While Tiger has perfected his dance moves like his idol   Roshan, he is working hard  to develop himself in the wild West mode. “After the success of Baaghi, I knew I had to raise my bar since you cannot repeat yourself in every project. Doing action scenes in this movie was difficult and it is for the first time I have used wires to perform stunts,” the actor told us.

That meant rigorous practice and heavy duty prep followed by shoots. Director Remo D Souza, who has excelled in the dance films genre, is now trying his hand in the action genre and encashing Tiger’s flexibility  and martial smoothness.

The director also made Jacqueline Fernandez, who is playing Tiger’s love interest  in the film, step out of her comfort zone. Ready for her third release of this year, she plays the character of a simple girl-next-door. “I now want to do more daring roles. In my previous films, I have being playing supporting characters but now I want to do some defined and strong roles,” she said.

Just in case the coupling does not work, the hit director has a fallback formula that works in masala films of this kind. Ex-wrestler and Hollywood actor Nathan Jones is making his foray into Bollywood with A Flying Jatt. The 7 ft tall actor, who will be seen playing antagonist in the movie, shared, “In the beginning, I wasn’t sure about working in a Bollywood movie. But then I decided otherwise. And it proved to be a good decision. Contrary to what I thought, people here work very professionally and I had a great experience working alongside Tiger, who is a really talented actor.”

Asked whether he was scared when he came to know about working with Nathan, Tiger said, “It was not one feeling that time. I was scared as well as excited. Being a wrestler himself, he taught me a lot about reactions.”

Jacqueline also shared her moments on the sets of the film. “In one scene, Tiger and I were supposed to kiss each other.  The shoot began and we started kissing. Remo sir did not say cut for about three minutes and we had to hold the frame. He plays such pranks and relaxes the atmosphere,” she said. Hope the box office returns give them a reason to chill.
