Success is just a second beyond one decides to quit, says Deepanshu Saini author of My Wife's Diary. Team Viva reports
Being a passionate writer, author Deepanshu Saini believes in not only chasing his dreams but also infusing a compassionate understanding of life’s dilemmas in the reader. “As an author, writing is my first love. It started as a mere hobby and gradually matured as a passion. I started doing what I really love and the result is my three published novels and many pages of immature scribbling since childhood. This is my third published book. It is a simple story of a not so simple girl. It takes place in Maharashtra.” He further commented, “The story is about her day to day struggles and celebrations. It starts with a happy go lucky girl who wants to live life to the fullest and then a time comes when she falls in love. The relationship seems to lose the magic with time and that is her first reality face off with life. How her life proceeds with a broken heart to a homosexual relationship is a story to unfold. This book is an enriched blend of love, money, passion, emotions and relations,” he told us.
With his unique way of storytelling, the author keeps the reader on the edge. In the heart wrenching war of love and betrayal, how loves wins by breaking all the bondages is showcased in the book. “This book is very close to my heart not because it’s based on my wife’s story but it’s the story of a fictitious girl. To explain the emotions of God’s best creation, i.e, a woman is both difficult as well as fascinating. The basic idea behind this book is to tell the world how far a girl can go to pacify her broken heart and emotions and how far a boy can go to save his love and marriage.”
Asked about the idea behind it, he said, “That’s a very interesting question and a bit difficult because no artist can tell you about the thoughts for creating his master piece. I am grateful to God for implanting the thought for this book. One of my friend writes a diary and I saw her writing something which might have ignited the thought which led to this book. Once the idea is formed, the story is germinated from the thought through curiosity and research. I used to discuss the story with my wife and friends. This is how the story started taking root in my mind and I streamed these thoughts and images which led to My Wife’s Diary.”
Talking about his journey while writing his novel, he said, “The first time I decided to jot down my thoughts and jumbled the story of My Wife’s Diary, I was not clear about the climax. The thoughts were stacked over each other and a draft was emerged which was discussed with many of my closed ones for more than hundred times.”
“One of my favourite part of the story is when she interacted with her first psychological patient Raghav who was gay. It was a heart touching interaction which made Pournima realise that there are many things to cherish about life. In our daily hectic lifestyles, we usually miss to appreciate the small gifts of God. Raghav made her understand how to live life at your own terms and be happy apart from day to day struggles,” he explained. “To chase your dream is not easy. It takes a lot of courage and inspiration to follow your heart. I believe that God has his own plans.”
His debut novel, Girls Hostel - Unspoken Memories is an adult fiction novel. “The story is based on hostel life which everyone can connect to. It was co-authored by my wife. It is a story of five college girls. The book is about the celebration of their last night at hostel and how the celebration is transformed into a unique card game that enables them to reveal their secrets which have subsequently changed their lives.” He also mentioned that his second book is his real life story. “The second book, By the Mountains - love reloaded is my story. It is a story of a boy who has been devastated by the loss of his love and then came a second chance in the form of an outbound leadership training program at Uttarkashi.” It was a trekking trip and an opportunity to find his true love. “The story is about the friendship, love, care, maturity and nature’s ascetic beauty. It is about, how in the midst of the cool breeze, breathtaking landscape and hectic trekking, the boy finds his true love at 13,500 ft above from the sea level. The similarity factor in all my books is that the protagonist of all the three novels is a girl. How the emotions of a girl gets changed with the age. How she plays all the roles so skilfully in her life be it a mother, a sister, a daughter or a manager” he shared.
When asked about his desire to change or add anything to My Wife’s Diary, he said, “According to me the book will entirely suffice as a story. But yes, if I had to add something new, I would write its sequel,” he said.
Director Saurabh Verma has shown keen interest in screen adaptation of My Wife's Diary. When asked about it, he said, “I am grateful to him for his kind words and appreciation. He gave me an insight of my book and loved the story. I really look forward to seeing my story on the big screen.”
He had quite a few words for the aspiring writers. “I would like to say have faith in yourself and believe that all your dreams shall come true. The most important aspect of being successful is to be happy and satisfied. In every journey, you will find many people, some of which will support you and some of which will try to pull you down but do whatever your heart says. Everyone faces difficulty in managing time between work, family and writing. But trust me, if you have the zeal to do anything and you know you can run for it with the full enthusiasm till your last breath, nothing can stop you. Have patience and keep moving forward,” he concluded.
