There has been a plethora of drama-thriller television series before, but there are only few that have been able to carve out a space of their own in the viewers’ mind. Mr Robot is one such fine example. Team Viva reports

It was his obsession with technology, the age old attraction with hacking and the unquenchable thirst to read that laid down the base for the show. "I was a huge geek and really into tech. I always had a fascination with the culture. So as a filmmaker and a storyteller, I really wanted to explore a movie or a television show with the subject. It was perfect timing and my passion for telling a story about this culture that didn't really have stories being told about it," says the creator of the show, Sam Esmail.

Talking about the cast he says, "I auditioned several people , a lot of great actors for the role of Elliot Alderson , a cyber security engineer and hacker one of the lead roles in the play. And it started to reveal a lot of flaws in the script, to be honest with you, in that the character started to feel very cold and didactic. It came off kind of obnoxious. What Rami Malek did when he came for audition, he just added this vulnerability to it. Even though he was saying sort of strange things, it came from a place of pain and loneliness. That clicked for me. It humanized him in a way that I don't see in anybody else's performance. Elliot wouldn't be who he is without Rami."

We  also spoke with Rami Malek who plays Elliot Alderson. "It felt like it was ahead of its time. And I just thought to myself, no one is going to make it. There's no way anybody is going to put money behind this. It's very polarizing in a sense. And then you tack on a name like 'Mr. Robot,' and it's like 'This is dead in the water," he says.

"I was very intrigued by it. It was a subject matter that I didn't know a great deal about and I was fascinated. But I was also very curious about the character. I had many questions and so I asked Sam, "What's really the deal with Mr. RobotIJ" There was just something nagging at me in the back of my head. He said, "Do you really want to knowIJ" And I said, "Yes, I think I do." He told me. And then he went deeper into what the relationship was between Elliot and Mr. Robot and  I was thrilled that he was willing to go in that direction. This isn't going to be a cookie-cutter show. It was going to be something that you had to pay attention to and there were going to be some interesting twists and turns," says Christian Slater who won Golden Globe for his performance in Mr. Robot.

The show was premiered on Colors Infinity last month and has hooked up the mass.
