Eclipse is the new big name from a notable house of wines

A winery and vineyard from Nashik region of western India recently added a new member to their family of whiskeys, Eclipse. A premium whiskey from the house of Sula, which is India’s largest wine producer.

Cecilia Oldne a wine producer since 2000 who started with its imports in 2006 is the global brand ambassador. Oldne said, “We started using brandy and now we are on whisky. It is an exciting time. It is the first grape spirit-based whiskey in India and that’s a new thing for us. It is something that we did not have.”

She elaborated upon the taste of the whisky. She says, “It’s much smoother than scotch.  It's for someone like me who is not necessarily a hard whiskey drinker since the drink is smooth and doesn’t need ice.” India consumes the most whiskey and Eclipse with its distinct taste, is suited to it. She says, “It is meant for people who are experimental and are ready to try what is new out there. It comes with not just a new taste, but it is also a new base of its kind with a funky name, packaging and good value for money. So, the people who are not scared of experimenting, can treat themselves to blending drinks like the Eclipse Paradise which is made using pineapple, vanilla and egg white.”

There are not many ingredients that goes into making this newly launched drink. It is made up of matured grape spirit, malt scotch and grain spirit. “Eclipse is all about new beginnings,” Oldne says, and it surely is a new one for every whiskey lover in India.

There is a reason to why the whisky was called Eclipse. Oldne says, “The beautiful solar eclipse represents auspicious beginnings and enhances opportunities in life. It's a big thing for us at Sula to enter the world of whisky and we're super excited about it!”

Eclipse comes in an elegant bottle with a tamper proof cap. Eclipse is available in 750 ml bottles. It is priced at Rs 1395 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rs 1250 in Delhi and Rs 790 in Pondicherry. In Goa, Daman and Silvassa, Eclipse retails at Rs 750 and is available across leading outlets.

The whisky is produced by Artisan Spirits, 100 per cent subsidiary of Sula Vineyards.
