JPS Chawla, an officer of Indian Civil Account Service (1985 batch) has taken over as director (Finance) of Delhi Transco and Delhi Power Company. Chawla has also been holding the charge of director (Finance) of Indraprastha Power Generation Company and Pragati Power Corporation. Born on November 3, 1959, Chawla is an alumnus of Delhi College of Engineering where he did his BE in mechanical engineering. He started his career with Engineers India in 1981 and later on moved to Indian Civil Account Services.
Chawla has experience of working with various organisations and ministries of the government. Before joining Delhi power sector, he was additional DG with Prasar Bharti where he was heading the budget, accounts and finance divisions. Previously he has also been with the Ministry of Urban Development as chief controller of accounts and as chief account officer with DDA.
