With the soaring temperature in the capital, the Ministry of Beer at Connaught Place has just the right food items to go down with your chillers, says Team Viva

Ministry of Beer is still awaiting it’s liquor license but has been able to tantalise our taste buds with an array of mocktails.  Their summer special is chilli flemnco which has green chilli, green apple, green apple syrup, lime juice with soda or sprite.

Serving multi-cuisine food in a schizoid environment, where grunge and classicism thrive, MoB has an extensive and flavourful a la carte menu. Normally a drinks place doesn’t have too much of emphasis on flavours but this one tries to put together a zingy summer freshness. From Kappa Maki to Squid Nigiri, MoB has quite an array. We started with Spicy avocado maki. Wrapped in seaweed sheets, the sushi colours came out vibrantly when served in a wooden platter with soy sauce and Japanese ginger (gari). The slight crunchiness of the cucumber and the perfectly cooked rice elevated the flavour profile. Gari tasted like a muted down version of ginger but complemented the kick of the wasabi. We liked the California Maki where the crab meat and the rice were perfectly seasoned, while the soy sauce contrasted the avocado’s creaminess, providing a satisfying balance.

As for the dimsums, we liked the vegetarian trio combination of avocado, asparagus and cucumber. The dimsums were served in bamboo baskets along with tomato salsa, a pepper dip and a charring mix of black beans and chilli for  added crunchiness. They were a bit cold for our liking but once we tasted them, they came out varied with the different accompaniments. The spicy chicken and coriander dimsums were tender and moist.

But it’s the dessert fusion that caught our fancy. Beeramisu  was a beer-flavoured tiramisu, a twist that worked because of its novelty.
