Sonali Bendre spoke to I Kaur about the change in her priorities and work on the small and silver screen
Sonali Bendre has a lot on her to-do list, but films aren’t a part of it. The actress said that she wants to spend most of her time with her son and keep away from the silver screen. “It sounds cliché but I think as a mother this is a wonderful phase, because my son is still young enough to enjoy my company, yet he is old enough to understand what I am saying. I don’t miss films because I don’t know if I will get this time again. I do TV as it is flexible. If he is not well I can take time out and be with him. Once he grows up, he will be busy with his life. I have all the time in the world to do what I want,” she shared.
Sonali was in the capital to launch All Out’s new campaign, Fight Dengue for Payal. It was an initiative to spread awareness among children on the preventive measures one should take to avoid the spread of dengue. She said, “I feel dengue can be easily prevented, yet every year the number of deaths is increasing. So, if awareness can help bring down the number I think it is good. We have a child named Payal as the face of this campaign.”
Sonali recently played a cameo in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara. She feels that present-age cinema today is much better. “My husband feels I should do films being made today because I will enjoy them. When I was in the industry, the kind of films that we have today were unheard of. I was very business like in my working which was not very common.”
However, she doesn’t feel she is missing out on anything. “I’m sure whatever I will want to do eventually will be different and something nice. At present, I really enjoy watching Deepika, Ranbir and Anushka. I think they are fabulous actors,” she signed off.
