Steel Authority of India limited (SAIl) is installing state of the art ore beneficiation technology to minimise impact on environment. Modern ore processing plants are being installed to achieve zero discharge at Tailing Dam.
The new iron ore beneficiation technology will enhance iron ore recovery and simultaneously minimise generation of tailings, which lead to better environment protection and conservation of natural resources by reducing the use of land and water, and maximising utilisation of iron ore.
At Kiriburu Iron Ore Mine, SAIl is going install a unit for reclamation of water from Tailing Dam spending `17 crore. This will substantially reduce fresh water consumption from Gagirath Jharna through recycling and stop any discharge into the stream.
