Meet the Mars man

Arjun Rampal is being roped in by famous brands to lure ladies. He chatted with Karan Bhardwaj on his recent endorsements

He is a ladies’ man and he admits this too. His chiselled torso complimented with sturdy looks has made women drool over him for years. Now, Arjun Rampal, is all set to be a chocolatey boy! He has become the face of Mars India’s chocolate range Galaxy, which has just been formally launched in India. “I know women have always liked me. They also love chocolates. So the combo is deadly,” he quipped as we began the conversation. Rampal has maintained fab body since his modelling days but admitted, “I have a sweet tooth too. I have always enjoyed good chocolates. I have eaten Galaxy before also. My family also likes it. When they approached me for the endorsement, I got little scared thinking they might blow my hair in air or ask me to lick the chocolate as you see in most advertisements, but luckily, no such thing was required. They came out with a sober advertisement,” he said. Ask who he would like to gift the chocolate, the reply comes, “Ranbir Kapoor. He is very sweet. I have seen him gorging on chocolates during Rajneeti. In fact, the entire Kapoor clan loves to have it,” he said.

The 40-year-old actor also expressed faith in brands he endorses. “I endorse brands which I personally utilise. I am very conscious about the products. First I see the brand, the company behind it and the possible association which can be developed. For instance, Mars India thought I am quite famous among ladies. And chocolates are said to be a woman’s prerogative,” he said.

Rampal shot down recent rumours that he demanded exorbitant money from a condom brand. “I wish that condom brand came to me first. They quoted a price bracket which I never demanded. I would happily endorse a condom brand. As far as affordability goes, it depends on the products and the manufacturing company,” said the actor, who is presently the face of five products.

He had three big releases this year — Satyagraha, D-Day and Inkaar, all showed the actor in demanding roles. “I am fortunate to have pushed the envelope with such intensifying characters. This is a great time in Indian film industry. Audience has grown for every genre, and it’s very encouraging. I feel more satisfied and grown up with my movies. But this is just the beginning of it. There’s lot of wonderful scripts to be told,” he said. Arjun doesn’t mind to be the second lead too. In his career of over a decade, he has also been part of women-centric movies. “They are different films. Tehzeeb and Heroine were women-centric. I think actresses always support you in other movies.

So I don’t have any problem in doing such cinema,” he said.
