VIKRANT MASSEY  is riding high on his success post lootera. He tells DIVYA KAUSHIK about his gradual progression and love for dance

Vikramaditya Motwane’s recent offering lootera was not just Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha’s film. The other cast of the movie Barun Chanda, who played the part of Zamindar, was reminiscent of Satyajit Ray’s heroes and the Vikrant Massey, who is seen as Devdas, Ranveer’s friend in the film, is gaining accolades for his strong performance. The actor is basking in the glory of his recent success and agrees that lootera has got him the opening any actor would want in Bollywood. Vikrant has been a popular face on small screen and we have seen him in serials like Baba Aiso Var Dhoondo and Balika Vadhu. Presently he is a part of Qubool Hai on Zee TV.

The actor shared that working in films was never planned. “I got the call from the casting director of the film Atul Mongia while I was shooting for Baba Aiso Var Dhoondo. luckily Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya liked the audition and that was it,” shared Massey and added that one of the reasons that he agreed to do the film was because it was by Vikramaditya. “He is a fabulous director and when I got to know that he is directing the film I had no reason to say no. Two things that matters for an actor to accept or deny the film are the script and the cast. In this case both were strong. I don’t think much before taking up a project, if I like something and want to be a part of it, I just go ahead. This is something I have followed while I have been doing TV,” he added.

Vikrant says that being a part of TV has been challenging and it is difficult to keep up with the gruelling schedule. Keeping this in mind it is impossible to imagine an actor doing a daily soap and a film simultaneously. “I was lucky that when I was shooting for lootera I had nothing else to do. Even otherwise I maintain that I do one thing at a time,” said the actor who dreamt to be on screen since childhood. “This was the only thing I wanted to do. I was attending Shiamak Dawar’s classes, since I love dancing. And it was there I got my first offer. Since then it has been a gradual progression. I am open to do a dancing show and have done a guest appearance on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,” he said, adding that he has some offers in pipeline.
