In its forthcoming season, the Amazon Fashion Week will be showcasing Italian shoes and bags from 41 leading brands. Team Viva reports
This season the models will be seen sashaying down the ramp at Amazon India Fashion Week with the leather accessories including shoes and bags from Italy. This is the first of its kind partnership between FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) and Italian Trade Commission (ITC). “The collaboration is only for this season. But this is just a beginning. We will be working close for the other events as well which will take place throughout the year,” said Sunil Sethi, president of FDCI.
When asked why Italy, he explained, “There are mainly three reasons to it. First, Italy is the global leader when it comes to accessories. I always believe craft and luxury go hand in hand. So this is a merge of skilled Indian designer with opulence. Secondly, ITC has been pro-active for this partnership. And lastly, we both are the bodies which provide platform for the designers and this brought us to the same page.” Italian fashion which is known for comfort, craftsmanship and design will showcase the finest collection of shoes and leather goods from 41 leading brands which is now looking to enter the Indian market. The collection of accessories will also be accompanied with special outfits of young Italian designers Alberto Zambelli, Bav Tailor, Davide Grillo and leitmotiv. The masterpieces will be displayed at the Italian Pavilion throughout the event to be held from October 12-16. This also marks a great platform to foster the trade relations between India and Italy in the fashion sector.
In a country where we are promoting ‘Make in India’ campaign, FDCI has forgotten the desi designers and collaborated with the Italian Trade Commission presenting ‘Made in Italy’ to add a new flavour in its forthcoming fashion week. “It will be an inspiration for the Indian designers. Besides, there are 100 stalls at the event and out of those only one has been allotted to the Italian designers rest 99 of them are occupied by our desi designers. I think this is fair enough,” chuckled Sethi.
