Esha Deol says that women should not follow Bollywood blindly and must dress up decently during night outs to avoid unwanted attention. She chats with Karan Bhardwaj

So when Esha Deol’s first look of MTV Roadies was revealed, she was seen preparing for a war. Clad in a black skimpy bustier and trousers, she held a sword and posed like a warrior. That’s exactly the message she has to offer to girls who ape Bollywood fashion blindly. The actor says women must “dress up decently” and not follow the onscreen heroines since they wear revealing clothes in a protected environment. She has warned girls against the unwanted attention that such outfits get during the night time.

Esha says, “When we are wearing a particular dress for a movie, we are constantly guarded by so many people. We are ‘acting’ for that scene and it’s not our real personality. A lot of women do get influenced by that dressing and wear those outfits at obnoxious time in the night and roam around, which in itself is a call for trouble. So they need to dress up decently. Don’t unnecessarily call for unwanted attention when you cannot handle it. And if you really want to do that, then learn some self-defence techniques. If are asking for unnecessary attention, learn how to give it back also,” she said. She adds that “it is the duty of parents to nurture kids in the right way.” The actor is making a comeback in showbiz after over two years of her marriage.

“I am not here to prove anything to anybody. life has been good to me. I have married to my childhood sweetheart. I have got lovely in-laws. My first two years of marriage were dedicated to being a bahu, cook food and do all the expected things. But I couldn’t stay away from work since I have been working since I was 18,” she says.

She also happens to be the first woman judge at MTV Roadies and has replaced the popular jodi of Raghu Ram and Rajiv laxman. The reality show has been popular among the youth and is known for its fiery temperament. “The show has some preconceived image among the audience but we are planning to reinvent the show. It must bring out the human emotions and not just ugly fights. While judging the contestants, I am just going to be myself. If I get annoyed, I will scream. If I like something, I will appreciate. If I feel sad, I will cry. I’m blunt but equally emotional.

That’s how I have been as a person. So I am not going by the set notions that the show has. I am not expected to do what others have done. I will be introducing a new sense to the show,” she tells us. She is excited that her fans will be able to see her real personality. “People have seen me doing characters in movies. But this show will get out the real Esha in public. I’m very black and white kind of person. I am also curious to what this show will bring out of me,” she says.

Along with Esha, Rannvijay Singh, Vijender Singh and Karan Kundra will also be seen judging the contestants. “The USP of the show will always be the same. We all get adrenaline rush when we watch contestants doing multiple tasks. I also expect to indulge in action. That has been my passion as a person. Also, I have been a huge follower of the show. I relate to the originality that comes along with it. Over the years, the show has presented the youth’s changing mindset,” she says.

The actor has no regrets in life and has so much to accomplish. “I have so many things to look forward to. I have learnt a lot of lessons. I am a scorpion and I know how to reinvent myself,” she says.
