Ask any parent seeking admission for his/her child and he will say, “I am sure I will not be able to get admission for my child to the school I want to send him/her to. Either I have to have political or administrative contacts to get my child admitted to the school of my preference, or I have to have a huge pot of money.” Why should an honest man do thisIJ
We all realise that the Government has invested huge mass of land and some (minimal) money to develop poor infrastructure (not restricted to land & building but also poor faculty) for Government schools, especially the Municipal schools in each locality. With the expansion of Delhi (core & not NCR), the population of Delhi has increased at a rate much higher than the national growth rate of 17 per cent. However, what is alarming is the rate of increase in new student population which has increased by 50 per cent in the last five years. One of the ideas being adopted is develop multi-track, year round, school configurations, in which the government and private enterprise can partner to enhance the infrastructure by converting them to two track schools. First track for the low income group — EWS and the second track, to cater to regular middle and upper middle income group.
