Suneet Varma’s finale at the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour will be an ode to his mum

Class, style and grandeur come naturally to Suneet Varma. More than once he has proved that he loves to put up a spectacular show. He is again gearing up for a brilliant show tomorrow for the finale of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour. This show is special for more than one reasons. His mother will be launching her fourth poetry CD, Dosti Ka Samundar, at the show and Suneet is trying his best to arrange everything in a magnificent way. “My mother is coming up with the CD with her Pakistani guru. I wanted to do something special for both of them and thought that a show would be the best idea,” commented the designer who will be presenting his Fall/Winter line called Shaan-e-Awadh. As the name suggests the collection is inspired by the Mughal era and the garments will feature the badla and chikankari work from lucknow and Hyderabad. The show will be divided in two sections. There will be ghazals playing in the background while the models will sashay down the ramp. Farooq Sheikh and Muzaffar Ali will be lending their voices to the show too.

It is after a long time that Varma is coming up with a show and he says that the reason is “I love to do things in my own style and I need to present them in a brilliant way, which is very difficult at the fashion weeks.” He has a long association with Blenders Pride Fashion Tour and is showcasing after a gap of almost two years. “My association has been special as I don't have any retail stores to reach out my clientele in India. Blenders Pride gives me an opportunity to put up a show my way and the collection reaches the right people. So it is a good brand building exercise for me,” he said.

The designer says that over time, apart from designing clothes, he has involved himself into a lot of other things, like “I have collaborated with the world’s most renowned luxury brand for bejewelled bags, Judith leiber and has designed their 50th anniversary bag. I am also associated with BMW Motors. I love to keep variety.”
