AIB’s first celebrity roast show bracketed Ranveer Singh as a national sex offender and tore apart Karan Johar’s sexual closet
AIB’s first ever celebrity roast show has left its fans in splits. The first edition had guests Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor who were mocked, poked and ridiculed unadalterated by well-known stand up comedians besides AIB’s team. The actors and comedians held no bars in pulling each other’s leg which even shocked many in audience that has celebs like Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha and Alia Bhatt in attendance. While Ranveer was grilled for his image of a playboy, Arjun was thrashed for his choices of movies.
The dirty jokes were played on audience as well the moderator of the evening, Karan Johar. His sexuality was challenged time and again. Ranveer, who came on stage after along with Arjun, locked lips with Karan, who was there to introduce the actors. However, the kissing act was censored in the clip. The censorship has also invited wrath of netizens who are questioning the logic behind editing the clip which otherwise had no limits in abusive content.
Comedian Aditi Mittal greeted Arjun saying, “Your greatest role so far has been your career. You’re so dumb, the first time you saw a dildo, you went looking for the plastic man it fell off of… And speaking of dildos, Ranveer is here.”
Film critic Rajeev Masand who was also on the panel was stripped by Ranveer. “Masaaaaand,” sneered Ranveer Singh, “I was hoping your jokes would be funnier towards the second half, but much like your life, it was quite a pointless performance. In fact, your performance was so one-toned and one-dimensional, that if I watched you in 3D, you’d still be flat, motherf###.”
While the video has impressed online users, it has also got criticism from different sections of society stirring a debate whether India is ready for roast comedy or not.
