Actors Govinda and Shakti Kapoor will be the special guests on Zee Comedy Show during the Independence Day special episode. By Team Viva

Even as the pandemic continues to cast its shadow of stress, Zee TV is attempting to lighten the country’s collective mood by offering its viewers an escape from all the strain via the route of rib-tickling comedy through its forthcoming reality show, Zee Comedy Show. This weekend, the show will host Govinda and Shakti Kapoor, with their hilarious antics, as special guests during the Independence Day special episode where all the 11 comedians will come together as Team Hasaayenge to make everyone laugh out loud.

While the acts put up by all comedians are sure to leave you in splits, it is Govinda and Shakti who are sure to steal the show with a recreation of their iconic Raja Babu act as they dress up as the iconic jodi of Nandu and Raja Babu. While Nandu was seen in his usual avatar of boxer shorts and a vest, Raja Babu was seen in a kurta-pyjama and a koti. Performing the iconic act 27 years after it premiered in theatres will be quite a spectacle, as director-choreographer Farah Khan pointed out during the shooting of the special episode, “It was an epic act, we all know that they are legends and seeing them perform was such a treat for everyone. It made us all laugh out loud.”

During the episode, Farah and Govinda put on their dancing shoes and grooved to the 90s chartbuster, Kisi Disco Mein Jaaye. Farah went on to reveal, “Today, my life feels complete. After 30 years, I’ve danced with Govinda, and I want to tell you all a secret today. Govinda is my childhood friend, but I’ve never choreographed him to date even though I’ve got many offers to do it. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to work with him, but for me, he is the best dancer ever in the Hindi film industry, so I didn’t feel I was worthy or capable of choreographing him. His jodi with Ganesh Acharya was so good that I felt if I choreographed him, it will be proven that I am not good enough to choreograph him. In fact, even when he came to shoot for Om Shanti Om’s Deewangi Deewangi song, I didn't dare to choreograph him. Hence, I told Govinda to choreograph Shah Rukh Khan for his portion, telling them that we’ll keep those steps. They did the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in the end and it came out so well. So, whenever we dance, Govinda will have to choreograph me, like how he did today.”

Tune in to Zee TV, this Saturday and Sunday, at 10 PM to laugh your hearts out to Zee Comedy Show.
