While Rahul Mishra’s bridal line was about traditional motifs in chanderi and Banarasi, designer duo Shivan and Narresh’s collection had scuba diving gown for newly-weds

Zardozi, chikankari, chanderiand kantha, Indian techniques have never failed to impress brides. What keeps changing with every season are silhouettes. While designers experiment with cuts and embellishments in bridal wear, embroidery and fabrics are essentially Indian. Designer Rahul Mishra’s line, that was part of special wedding promotion by Taj Khajana, was about hand-woven Banarasi weaves. The designer shared, “This is a quick range that we have put together to celebrate the Indianness. Everything in this collection is light weight but grand. I worked with Banarasi, chanderi textiles and old and detailed motifs. I have created new weaving patterns. The collection is full of colours. The line is designed keeping in mind it’s summer. One cannot wear velvet or heavy embroidery lehenga in this heat.” He added, “I never design clothes that overpower personality. I always believe that it is beautiful ladies who add  personality to clothes.”

Designer duo Shivan and Narresh, too, presented their honeymoon line on the occasion.

“Usually brides think of the D-Day and plan their wardrobe. But they forget about the next 10-15 days when they have to travel with their husbands. Our collection is to provide the newly-weds some easy-to-carry designs,” said Narresh.

Scuba diving gowns and swimming costumes cum sari were the highlight of their collection.
