Sharing his experience while working with Amitabh Bachchan for the TV series, Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi, Amit Trivedi shares with Arjita Mishra that he kept his personality in mind while composing

With  songs like Gal Mitti Mitti, Iktara and Manjha, Amit Trivedi has become another name for the blockbuster hits of all time. Shot to fame with the music of Dev D, the singer, music-composer is riding high on the  success ofShandaar’s music. But the lyricist also has another reason to have a ball time as the recent project that he wrapped up is for the legend, Amitabh Bachchan.

Trivedi had a wonderful experience composing music for the show, Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi where Bachchan is a host. He told us that that Big B shared with him how he used to manage his time when he was juggling between three-four films. “I felt lucky when he told me about his experiences from the time when he was managing between a lot of things at a crucial point in his life. I learnt a lot of things from him during this time,” he shared.

As this is the first time when he has created music for Bachchan, we could figure out his excitement. “I had created one song called Bachchan Bachchan for Bombay Talkies but with him this is was the first time,” he said. Not only is this Trivedi’s first time when he has composed for Bachchan, but also when he has given music for  a television series. When we asked him if there was any difference that he found out while composing for television and he said, “There is not much difference, the process is almost the same, only technical aspect changes because at the end of the day whatever medium you are doing either TV or film, the ultimate aim remains the same that we have to connect with the audience and touch their hearts.”

He added that there is some challenge in every project whether it is of TV or film and every project has its own ups and downs. Whereas he admitted, “Composing for the show was  fun rather than a challenge.”

So, was there anything particular in mind that he kept while composing for the megastarIJ “I kept his  image and style in my mind so that the song suits his personality and character,” he replied.

The songs ofShaandaar have become very popular among the audience and the melodist is satisfied with the review. He shared, “I was hurt when the music of Bombay Velvet didn’t work because it was my dream project and most ambitious project so, today I feel very happy that Shaandaar is covering up the wounds which I got from Bombay Velvet.”

As we all know that Shaandaar is a wedding film so, we asked Trivedi that how he managed to make the songs different from the other movies, “It is not a typical shaadi-band baaja song, but it is slightly quirky wedding song track.” He added, “Shahid is there in the film and he is an amazing dancer, so, we kept his moves in mind while composing and also the wedding culture of our country and tried to make it different so that it doesn’t sound typical.”

Trivedi has not only composed the music for the movie but has sung the song Shaam Shaandaar. “For me singing is very tough and composing is quiet easier because I am not a singer, I am a part time singer and a full time composer,” said he.

The forthcoming  projects of Trivedi include Fitoor,  Udta Punjab and Ae Zindagi Gale laga le.
