In their maiden trip to India, the lead singer Kekko Fornarelli from the Kekko Fornarelli Jazz Trio shares with Arjita Mishra that his music is a way to tell stories, emotions and situations of his personal life
As we took a step into the Piano Man Jazz Club, we found the drums, piano and the double bass placed perfectly on the stage as some people sat on the stair case as they could not find a place to set their foot in, in the double decker crowded club. Being the only jazz club of the city, the club enjoys its uniqueness as the people of Delhi want to go there to enjoy the jazz music. The Italian embassy along with the club organised a show by the Italian artiste there. Everyone from the audience enjoyed the jazz music played by the Italian group, Kekko Fornarelli Jazz Trio.
Kekko Fornarelli, a pianist and also a composer, along with his group came India to perform in various cities after Delhi, “We are going to perform in Mumbai, Kolkata and Goa.” In his group, he has Giorgio Vendola who plays double bass and Dario Congedo on drums. Sharing about his group, the artiste said, “I formed this group in the year 2011 and we have collaboration with some of the artistes.”
In just four year of their journey, they have been on several world tours and have been lauded and appreciated by the audiences around the world.
In the past two years the trio had performed in 25 countries and they were a huge hit in Russia, Europe, Asia and Australia. Fornarelli’s first music album, Room of Mirrors was released in the year 2011 which was highly appreciated and from there, they started their journey of success and till now have released four albums. On asking about their performance, Fornarelli said, “Our performance is on the latest album, Outrush, which was released last year and is based on my personal life.”
Most of the songs on the albums of the group are based on Fornarelli’s life, “I make music to talk about my life. I am stuck by the images and emotions of my personal life or you can say with the moment of my life and I am recreating it through my music,” he said.
The music of Fornarelli is a way to tell stories, emotions and situations. On asking about his inspiration, the artiste said, “My inspiration could be everything like a person’s image, sensation that I may have felt with any incidence or the music that I listen to.” The artiste wants that jazz music should spread worldwide as there are very few people who have vast knowledge about it. He wants jazz music must to spread worldwide. His music is an original interpretation of the most of the classical jazz formation.
