The recent festival organised by Children Film Society of India featured several movies that highlighted new-age problems of kids

The Swachh Abhiyan struck a chord with children as it  became the central theme of the festival organised by the Children Film Society of India (CSFI). “The mission is a noble one and children are the best people in whom we can teach the importance of keeping their environment clean,” said Shravan Kumar, CEO, CSFI. The festival screened movies based on basic values. “We do not want to preach through these movies. Our main objective is that a child should always remember his moral values,” he added. The journey of the festival began with a star-studded affair. Dancer and choreographer Shaimak Davar put together a dance on the theme of the festival.

Shravan said, “The kids from the film society were part of the dance troupe. The best part of dance was that Shaimak incorporated the PM Maddison Square Garden speech in the choreography.” Pappu Ki Pagdnadi, The Goal, Mahek Mirza, Ek Ajooba, Kummati, Krish Trish and Baltiboy-3 (all made by CSFI) were some of the movies that were screened during the festival. The added attraction of every screening was the presence of the directors. Shravan added, “Children were so happy to interact with Amitav Sen after his movie Shortcut Safari was screened.” Gopi Gawaiiyya Bagha Bajaiyya, a recently finished movie of CSFI was also screened. “It is the first animation film from the society to be screened at Toronto International Film Festival and at Busan Film Festival,” he said. The best part of the movies which were screened is that most of them were made by young directors at the CSFI.
