Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari’s arrest over rape charges has led to several speculative theories
like his fans, thanks to the chartbuster sun raha hain na tu, Bollywood is too shocked over the rape charges levelled against playback singer Ankit Tiwari. The 24-year-old was arrested yesterday for ‘raping his girlfriend repeatedly for over a year and failing to deliver his promise of marrying her.’ However, industry seems to stand by the artiste who many believe is being “framed”. “It looks unbelievable. We have known him for several years and he cannot do this,” says a publicist on the condition of anonymity.
The online portals are flooded with several theories. According to a website, “Ankit first met this girl at a big Durga puja event organised by a big shot businessman at Andheri in October last year (2013). The girl was handling the event and Ankit was called in as a performer for the evening. It was here that the two first met and love blossomed almost immediately.” If the source is to be believed, then two apparently got intimate that very night itself in a hotel room. “The thaw in the relationship, according to the source, happened when Ankit was informed about the girl’s divorcee status. The girl, who is in her late 30s, had apparently not disclosed the fact that she was a divorcee with a daughter. As soon as, Ankit discovered this, he started maintaining his distance from the girl much to her dismay. At this stage, his elder brother Ankur also stepped in and encouraged Ankit to snap ties with the girl. Their family also started looking out for a girl from Kanpur to get Ankit hitched,” reads the portal.
Meanwhile, Ankit’s lawyer, Nagesh Mishra refuted all rape allegations saying they were completely fabricated and filed to extort money.
“Why was the victim silent all this whileIJ When she learnt that Ankit has become successful in his career, she came to us to demand money. But when we flatly refused to pay, she filed a false complaint against my clients,” Mishra said.
