With the increasing trend of theme parties, now parents want their kids to be as fashionable as celeb kids. Not only are they coming up with requests of new designs but also customising the outfits according to their demands, writes Arjita Mishra

Whether it is a wedding or a birthday party, we all want to be dressed best and for that we explore almost every showroom of the city. When it comes to an adult, we have many options with us but there are very less choices for kids and teenagers.

To solve this problem, Neha Sachar Mittal and Karina Rajpal along with their designer Maya Nocon opened their online as well as offline store- Kidology, for the kids wear. Not only they have their in house designer but ace designers like Gauri- Nainka, Sidharth Tytler, et al. also design for them. “We take help from these designers as parents want their kids to wear the garments of these ace designers,” said Mittal.

Noccon, being a German designer also designs Indian wear like kurta pajama, . lehenga,Patiala, anarkali, sherwani, et al. for kids. In their collection they had outfits inspired from the animated films like Frozen, Beauty and the Beast and Cindrella.

In a factory visit, we came to know about the work process of making kids dresses. Designer  make the design first and then the cutting of the clothes are done after which it is stitched according to the demand. After the finishing work like thread cutting, spot removal and steamed ironing the dresses are sent for the trail. “For the trail purpose, we make samples in the sizes of 4-5 years of kids. Fittings are been checked, necessary adjustments are made and if we find the dress to be perfect then only we keep it in our collection,” said Rajpal.

They not only provide the designers collection, but also the clothes are being customised according to the customer’s choice.

“There are parents who wanttheir kids dress es to be same as theirs so, the dresses are customised accordingl,” said Nocon. The dresses are also designed according to the theme party.

Not only clothes, but the accessories are also designed by Nocon. “Accessories like hair pins, hats, shoes, belts are also made to match the dress,” she said.

To make these dresses comfortable for the children so that they can have fun and enjoy the party, the fabrics which are used are soft and easy to carry.

“We know that children will not sit in a place, they will run around and play with their friends so we use fabrics like cotton- silk, lenin, et al. So that they may feel free,” said Rajpal. To make a dress perfect in each and every size, a lot of research work is done. “We have to keep in mind that if there is any flower made on the dress, then it placed on the same length and of the correct size in each dress. A lot of measurement is done,” said the in house designer.

On asking the designer that how she manages to make Indian wear as she is from Germany, she said, “It took a lot of time for me to understand the Indian patterns and designs but now I am comfortable with it.”
