Akshay Kumar talks about the High Court’s decision on Jolly llB 2 and shares that the film has ‘verbal action’ scenes
Don’t fret. Jolly llB 2 will hit the screens on February 10, assured Akshay Kumar. The actor who was in the city for promoting the film said, “High Court has not cut four scenes. It has given four cuts in a scene. With due respect to High Court, if they feel that something like this is important, then their decision will be accepted and we have already done that.” He further added, “Sometimes it happens that somebody (CBFC) misses out something. I know that once censor board rules out a decision, the court follows that. There are some cases, like 0.01 per cent. I abide by the court’s decision, and with what they have given.”
Kumar and Huma Qureshi, her co-actress in the film, were an hour late than the scheduled time. When asked about the reason, the Kumar calmly replied, “I think you should catch the organisers for this. They told me about this time it will start and I’m here.” Kumar, who will be reprising actor Arshad Warsi’s role of Jolly in the court room drama, said Arshad made it easier for him to portray the character on the silver screen. “I already knew that how I was going to play the character. Also, my director has been a political journalist. He comes with a great experience. I just followed his vision,” he added. Arshad was praised for his part in 2013 film Jolly llB, which went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
Talking about his preparation for the role of a lawyer, Kumar said, “I didn’t do much preparation for this role because I’m from north India only and my language is kind of similar to that of Uttar Pradesh, and I have a good command over Hindi.” Huma will be playing the role of the actor’s wife said that she doesn’t feel that her role will get ignored in front of Akshay’s stardom. “I didn’t feel ignored at all. I didn’t face anything like getting ignored by Akshay’s part. I love a lot of his films, Airlift being my favourite,” Huma said. Akshay intervened and said, “How can I ignore actressesIJ Did I ignore my actress in Airlift. In Housefull 3, we had three heroines.” “On the contrary, I made shots for her. I made food for her and used to give her a massage,” he quipped.
Huma joked, “Actually he has made this film, so that all the boys run away from my life by proving that she is a dominating girl and forces her husband to do all the work.”
Known for his comedy and action movies, Akshay said, “This movie also has action. The action in this film is verbal. It’s happening inside the courtroom. Everything in this film is based on realism,” he said.
“We shot the film in lucknow and liked it a lot. While shooting we didn’t face any problem. lucknow is a very friendly place to shoot. It was a great moment that I shot in lucknow. In fact, I shot my next film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha in Mathura. There also I didn’t face any problem,” he added.
