The market awaits 4K TVs and evolved budget smartphones

Higher definition TVs

After launching several phones in the India market, leEco is set to launch its TVs in India this month under the Super TV brand. The three new TVs are capable of displaying content at 4K/Ultra HD resolution, run Android under the hood along with the EUI interface. What is interesting is you don’t even need a cable connection but just a fast internet connection to start consuming content on these TVs as they come with a free 2 year premium membership which gives you access to 2,000 Full HD/HD films from Hollywood and Bollywood, 100 satellite TV channels and more.

The Super 3 X55 will retail at Rs 59,790, Super 3 X65 at Rs 99,790 and the top of the line Super 3 Max 65 with 3D functionality will cost Rs 1,49,790. The TVs will be available to users through leMall and Flipkart with pre-orders starting on August 10 and come with a two-year product warranty and four-year warranty for the panel.

More bang for the buck

Xiaomi hopes to take the sub-Rs 1,0000 phone market by storm with the introduction of the Redmi 3S and 3S Prime. The Redmi 3S comes at an attractive Rs 6,990 price point and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 2GB of RAM alongside. Features include 5-inch HD display, 16 GB of storage, 13MP/5MP cameras, 4G VOlTE support and a massive 4100 mAh battery which could offer two days of usage.

The beefed-up Redmi 3S Prime with double the storage, 3GB of RAM and a fingerprint sensor on the back will be available for Rs 8,999. The phones will be available in three colours — grey, silver, gold and feature a premium metallic design. Redmi 3S Prime will go on sale on August 9 on mi.com and flipkart.com followed by the Redmi 3S on August 16.

Make the most of your phone

Store non-critical content like music and photos on a memory card if your phone supports one and not on the phone memory as these tend to take up a significant amount of space easily, over time slowing down your phone. You could get a phone with more built-in storage too.

Do turn off GPS and Bluetooth when not used. GPS is known to both heat up the phone and deplete battery life simultaneously if left on for long periods of time. A bad network might actually make your work harder to look for a signal hence draining it sooner. Do consider talking to your service provider or switching providers if this a major concern. Disable or uninstall unwanted apps and retain only the apps you use or need frequently. Do take frequent backups of the important information stored on your phone and do turn on features like Find My iPhone or Android Device Manager which are helpful in case your phone gets lost.
