Milind Soman and Gul Panag shared their fitness regimen with Darpan Mago. Gul added that she is planning to come up with her adventure series
When you have someone like Milind Soman talking about fitness, ladies are sure to pay attention. The actor and model was recently here to motivate his female fans to be part of the second Pinkathon.
Dressed in a light-pink shirt and blue jeans, Milind, along with Gul Panag promoted the event that aims to create awareness on breast cancer. “In India many women ignore their health and this was a prime reason which made us take up this cause. Women take care of their family, are an inspiration to others but they neglect their own health. Breast cancer deserves much awareness as it is one of the curable cancers if detected in early stages,” said Milind and informed that the final run has been scheduled for September 14 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
According to Dr Vedant Kabra of Fortis Hospitals, the cases of breast cancer are increasing at an alarming rate and have doubled in recent times. Nearly 1.5 lakh of women are currently being diagnosed with breast cancer in our country.
Milind shared his fitness mantra, “I don’t believe in any specific exercise. I don’t follow a diet chart but a balanced diet. Something that I feel isn’t good for us is refined sugar and I try to keep that to minimum. You can eat jaggery or honey but no refined sugar and artificial sweeteners. I eat a lot of fruits like bananas and papaya. My breakfast has many fruits. I consume nearly 10 bananas and a whole papaya. Sometimes, I also eat a whole melon at one go. So I eat nearly 3.5 kgs of fruits for my breakfast. My dinner is usually light and always early. I eat around 6:30-7 in the evening. I don’t eat anything after that.”
As far as keeping healthy is concerned, modern times are challenging. We might have grown technologically but have also become slaves to it. In earlier times, people were more inclined to physical workouts. Milind said, “The only reason why we really need to exercise today is because our lifestyle has become sedentary. You must avoid sitting all the time. Even if you have a job where you have to sit for long hours, you must take time to walk around. This can be done by not keeping a water bottle around and going up to the water cooler to drink water after regular gaps. Moving around encourages you to think more and it also enhances your creativity.” Milind mentioned that he enjoys outdoor workout. “I like to spend more time outdoors and gyms are not the workout place for me.”
Gul shared she is fond of running. She said, “Now I don’t have a fitness regime but I did when I was young. Fitness is part of my life. I have reached the stage where I don’t need to work hard to focus on fitness.” According to Gul, maintaining a good health is much like studying for an exam. “If you study at the last moment, it becomes hard but if you have paid regular attention at class lectures, things become easy, same is with fitness,” she said and informed that she will soon come out with a book on fitness and an adventure travel series.
