Stylist Dar, who opened his first store in the city, spoke about latest trends and styles
It seems like we won’t have to work too hard on our hair this season. Just out-of-the-bed look will be in and UK-based hairstylist Dar told us how to get it right. The stylist, who opened his first salon in the city at Hotel Kempinski East in association with Pevonia, gave some more tips at the opening.
The models, dressed in latest collection by Ritu Beri, waited for the master to tell them about the current hair trends.
At the event, he showcased his video film which had 25 different hairstyles for men and women. “Hairstyling is nothing, but giving shape to one’s personality. Earlier, hairstyling was not so popular in India but now donning different haircuts have become a trend. From school goers to corporates, everyone stylise their hair differently. Earlier when a girl used to cut her hair short, people used to say kii ye kya bandar jaise baal katwa liye, while today we call it tomboy look, that’s sported by many celebrities today,” he said.
During his formative years Dar worked in a variety of top salons but moved later, sensing that he had learned all that he could from any particular place, and was eager to challenge himself. later he joined Vidal Sassoon Salon and after two and a half weeks he was brought onto the floor as a stylist. “The normal development and training time is at least four weeks to eight months. They must have seen something extraordinary in me! I worked with london’s top stylists and developed my hair cutting skills eventually. I also went on to give shows and seminars all over Europe as well as India and Pakistan and learned from people around me. I also created the concept of the total look, which has become very popular now.”
Through his salon, he wants to change the perception on hairstyling. “If you will go to other salons, you might find few under-trained staff, but in my salon, I have specially given training to all of them. I am Indian so I know the mindset of people. Also I have been trained at foreign institutions which are known best for hair dressing, so I can use that knowledge to give something different to my clients. Indians have thick, lustrous black hair, which can be easily experimented with, but people are generally not aware about the shampoos and good conditioners. In my salon they will get good information as well,” said Dar.
