Karanvir Bohra talks to D Kaushik about being choosy with his small screen roles and his experience of producing films
He played a psychotic husband in Saubhagyavati Bhava and for a while he only did reality shows of different kinds. last was Khatron Ke Khiladi. In between, he also produced a Punjabi film with his wife, that might not have set records but surely encouraged him to do more work in films. Now he is playing the role of Aahil Raza Ibrahim in Qubool Hai on Zee TV. Karanvir Bohra has been lucky to try variety on the small screen. He says that he has only gone for characters that gave him an opportunity to explore his acting skills.
“I am loving every minute of being Aahil. I have played characters with some negative shades in the past, but each has been of a different kind. And this one is unique, too. Aahil’s character is very well-defined and has many layers to it. As an actor, it is a challenge to bring out his traits on screen and that is what I am liking about it,” said the actor, who is known to be choosy and he admits to be one. “After Saubhagyavati Bhava I was offered many roles but there was nothing that could excite me. All were almost similar roles and there’s no point working just for the heck of it. It is often said about TV actors that they work under strict schedules, which is true, but I never complain about that as I enjoy what I do. I love being on camera but as long as I am doing the work of my choice. So why would I take up something that I know would only make things boring for meIJ I am a spontaneous actor who does not believe in preparing much in advance, so acting doesn’t come naturally to me if it’s something I am forcing myself to do,” he said.
The actor, who last produced love You Soniye is geared up to do more films now. “I hope that next I will be producing a Hindi film. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of production and there’s still more to learn,” he said.
