Providing eco-friendly ambience to a large number of business visitors and exhibitors from India and overseas at Pragati Maidan throughout the year, the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has been persistently striving to conserve its electricity and water consumption at Pragati Maidan, during the year 2013-14.
Judicious use of energy efficient CFl/lED lamps in the exhibitor stalls, lights in decoration items and ductable air conditioning hangers brought a significant reduction in the consumption and cost for the organisation. Besides, use of solar lights in some of the street lights saved considerable power. During India International Trade Fair 2013 alone, use of CFl/lED instead of comptalux/halogen lamps in ITPO’s constructed stalls saved worth 27 lakh.
Significantly, continuous monitoring, proper maintenance and supervision of power quality and supply in Pragati Maidan caused an improvement in the power factor (PF) from 0.85 to 0.90 during the year 2013. The organisation has further geared up to improve power factor from 0.90 to 0.95 during the current year
Remarkably, the water supply consumption of Pragati Maidan has been reduced about 40 per cent of the earlier consumption due to its innovative steps. These include: auto off faucets, modification in water supply, distribution and operation system controlling of water leakages in main distribution lines during the fair and non-fair period.
