Aishwarya Rai’s gold strapless Roberto Cavalli gown was worn by Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth at this year’s Academy Awards
We saw, we were stunned and fell in love with her impeccable style and beauty all over again. But then this was out: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s look was picked up from another actress’ wardrobe. Aishwarya chose a shimmering Roberto Cavalli gown to walk the red carpet at Cannes but it was surprising to note that Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth wore the same strapless gown to this year’s Academy Awards.
Meanwhile, her hubby Abhishek Bachchan praised Aishwarya by tweeting, “Almost 52 hours without sleep! Eyes shutting... and the Mrs shows up looking like this! Ok... eyes wide open now. (sic)”
The actress has been a regular at Cannes red carpet and somehow her love for shimmering gold detailing has been reflected in the designs she chooses to wear. For instance, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s sari with heavy gold embroidery.
In 2012, few months after giving birth to baby Aaradhya, Aishwarya took a bold step by wearing a belted Elie Saab gown. It showed all her plus size curves, drawing mixed responses from critics. While some were in favour of her embracing her womanhood in all its glory, others thought gown made her look chubby and plump.
