God is supreme

Published on:

When a person, after listening and studying the Vedic thought becomes capable of differentiating between different types of matters in the universe, s/he aspires to realise God. Defined as the Almighty in four Vedas, God doesn’t need help in controlling the universe, states Shwetashwataropnishad. His unlimited knowledge, power and deeds are automatically present. So, God is the one, who after creating the universe, perfectly holds, nourishes and re-creates it. He controls deaths, births, provides food to everyone, creates seasons, gives knowledge of Vedas and how to attain salvation. The movement of planets, sun, moon, stars are controlled by him. Under God’s directions, souls take birth, based on their previous lives’ deeds.  Therefore, the greatness of Almighty is beyond consideration, imagination and calculation.

Manusmriti Shlok says that He preaches three divine forms of knowledge — Gyan Kand (knowledge of worldly matters) Karma Kand (knowledge of deeds) Upasana Kand (knowledge of the way to worship God). “There is only one God, who bears the load/burden of entire universe. Being alive, He alone gives movement to both alive and non-alive worlds. The living world comprises souls and the world which is visible is not alive,” says Yajurved Mantra.

God gives power, energy, movement to the earth and enables heavenly bodies to emit light. He has given fertility to earth where humans find shelter as well as coal, diamonds, gold, silver, iron, brass and more. In Yajurved mantra, God has been described as “Shukram and Akayam” i.e. Almighty and Formless. Those who had tangible form like Ravanna, kansa, Duryodhan, Pandavas, Bheeshma Pitamah, Alexander, Napoleon Bonaparte, Rustam-e-Hind Dara, King-Kong, Gamma had negligible power as compared to Almighty. Rigved mandal 10, Sukta 48, Manta 6 states, “Human-beings who have all types of weapons and challenge Me (God) to fight, are destroyed by my unseen, unlimited destructive power, without any weapon, within a fraction of second.”

In fact, as per Samved Mantra 744, “We must worship the God whom our forefathers worshipped from the beginning.” So, we must worship and pray that God protect us from sins and evil thoughts so that we enjoy a long, happy life and at the end of which we attain salvation.

We must remember our ancient/present Rishi-Munis whom the Vedas have made authentic dignitaries to preach Vedas and know God accordingly.
