Former bureaucrat Vijay Singal’s book, Bhagavad Gita - Saying it the Simple Way, was unveiled by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar
In these frenetic times, one can easily get swayed by the goings on in society, and find that time has flown by, leaving one rather dishevelled and deteriorated, perhaps not so much physically, as mentally. The message that shlokas gives us is that we need to look at the bigger picture. We need to control our thoughts and not worry unendingly. We need to realise that our problems are not obstacles but stepping stones to success.
Author Vijay Singal, former bureaucrat, in his latest book Bhagavad Gita - Saying it the Simple Way, which was unveiled by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, deals with exactly that. The book consists of translation of Gita shlokas in simple Hindi and English. In the course of penning the book he ensured that the exact meaning and real intent of the shlokas is not compromised so that the readers are able to decipher the meaning of the shlokas without minimal help from other individuals.
The launch was preceded by a brief discussion on the book with Kumar and Singal anchored by Dr. Annurag Batra. The discussion revolved around the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita and how its teachings have great practical utility to each human being who inhabits the planet today.
Kumar said, “It is my pleasure to launch this sacred book as I have always used certain teachings from the Gita in my daily life and it does make life less complicated and serene. I believe that ‘God is one’ and any path you take in the direction of self realism will eventually lead to Him”.
Even in the today’s world of cut-throat competition, the teachings of Bhagvad Gita are much relevant as they make one question oneself about one’s existence, purpose, relation with the universe and what is the real nature of human being.
