GlITTERING GODDESSES

GlITTERING GODDESSES

The stage sparkled in silver while glass furnishings and a fluttering peacock at the back made it seem like a kaleidoscopic carousel, with four crescent moons dazzling at the corners. Falguni and Shane Peacock’s presentation of their clinquant couture was a visual feast. Channelising the spirit of a royal tradition, the models pranced with style, showcasing a medley between the queen of Paris and the grand Junagarh palace, Rajasthan’s cultural jewel, unveiling Amour de Junagarh.

The colour palette traversed all shades of Persian violet, medieval blue, tinsel gold, plum purple, dessert dust, pearled ivory, honey peach, lavender fog and burgundy. From stones, jewels, feathers and crystals, all the wonders were present at the designer duo’s couture presentation.

While the models ramp-walked, the evening’s showstopper, Kareena Kapoor Khan, dazzled in glittering gold, making everyone’s hearts skip a beat. The diva revealed how she felt about walking the ramp for Falguni and Shane Peacock, “First, I would like to say that I have walked the ramp for nearly a decade and more. But  this is the first time that I am walking in a 30 kg attire, and if it was not for Falguni and Shane, I think that I wouldn’t have done it for anyone else. It is making me feel glamorous but I also realise that it is very tough to walk the ramp in such heavy outfits.”

Falguni talked about why she chose heavy outfits and jewellery for their debut at the ICW 2018, “Well, something has to stand out rather than just over-accessorising. We tried the whole look on models and on Kareena. And she pulled it off. After all, it is Bebo!”

Even though Kareena never fails to nail it and walks the ramp with elegance, she revealed how she does get nervous at times. “Nobody believes me when I say that I am really really nervous since I come across as a very confident girl, but actually ramp is the only thing which makes me feel nervous in life.” The abstract folklore of ornate pieces, sweeping, trailed, feathered and Swarovski encrusted gowns, bejewelled lehengas made the designer duo’s couture presentation a little over-the-top but we weren’t complaining about a good spectacle.
