We must be open to fresh ideas and perspectives and let go of our false beliefs and knowledge to transform ourselves positively, says Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunj Ji
Most of us have a deep quest to know the truth that is complete and unmixed. However, it has been learnt from experience that generally, when a man is told the truth which does not square well with his currrent belief, he does not accept it, or at least, puts up a strong resistance towards it.
Man has so much attachment to his existing beliefs that he has learned from history that not only does he offer resistance to new ideas and knowledge but also becomes intolerant to new thoughts so much so that he can commit violence and indulge into destructive acts. This prejudice towards fresh perspective is built not merely by people’s ignorance or attachment to old beliefs but also by established schools or institutions of learning. They have been resisting knowledge that contradicts with what is stated in the course books or the authorised versions. However, the degree of the action has decreased nowadays because the educated people are more open to new ideas. The educational institutions also encourage research on various fresh and new topics. There is thus some change in the environment as compared to what it was about a hundred or fifty years ago. But the in-built prejudice towards new ideas and resistance and new beliefs has not yet completely vanished. There are religious fanatics around the world who still threaten people with death who vehemently express opinions opposite to their beliefs and try to influence the general mentality of the society.
It should be remembered that false knowledge or ignorance builds up deep prejudice, hatred and emotional attachment which leads to violent reactions. Hence, in order to remove prejudice and hatred, we need to work on its base, that is, false knowledge. For that, it is important to tell the truth so that people can frame right opinions. This might also lead to violence. Therefore, we should devise methods which can stop people from putting up violent reactions.
We must understand the fact that people who oppose new ideas or knowledge are too small in number. Through this, we must also understand that this has always been the case. Initially, only a small number of people would accept new knowledge. However, as time goes by, more and more people have started accepting the truth. Remember, the truth of the knowledge should not be judged by the number of people but by the change it brings in the life of those who accept it. Hence, we must now rise up from deep slumber and give up our resistance and opposition and try to learn a lesson from history. We must start recognising and accepting new ideas and knowledge which would help in bringing about a great transformation worldwide.
