Get smart with your six yards

Sanya Dhir has come up with a corporate sari collection, which has zipper saris and ones that can be worn over pants, to make the drape a part of your regular wear

There are usually occasions when we think of looking at sari collection in our wardrobes. And most of the times, we just give up the idea of wearing it, thinking of efforts we might have to make to check if the blouse is fitting rightly or if the drape is falling perfectly. “No matter how much one loves to wear a sari, it is difficult for many women to wear it to office. Most women think it will be uncomfortable and they will have to plan in advance to wear a sari. And some women only have saris for occasions in their collections and not the ones that they can wear in office or to some meetings,” said Sanya Dhir, who is the brand director or KBSH. Sanya’s website kbshonline.com has a range of corporate saris, that can be worn over the pants, zipper ones and pre-stitched saris. “It saves you all the effort of draping the six yards and these saris are comfortable to carry. We have in-house designers who understand the requirements of modern women. We work on the design, dye and drape. In each piece, either of these three is focussed upon. But we do not load the saris with heavy work and embroidery. Such saris one might find in our wedding collection but not for the regular wear,” added Sanya.

Interesting prints, colours and other funky elements are used on the saris to make them suitable for the young clients. “We have demands pouring in from across the globe. Women, aged from 20 to 35, are highly open to the idea of concept saris and they are looking for options to drape one sari in different ways and may be with different blouses. We also have blouses in different designs, as we understand  the importance of a good, well-fitted blouse. Customers can also call on our helpline numbers if they want something special or if they are looking for a particular size. Apart from saris, we do have scarves and dresses available on our website. But our aim is to promote sari as a smart option for regular wear,” informed Sanya.

The price range of the saris begin from Rs2000 and can go up to some lakhs, depending on the kind of sari you are choosing. “In India, people usually believe that buying online is all about buying at cheaper prices. But online shopping is more about convenience. We keep in mind that no one wants to spend over Rs20,000 for a sari, which will be worn may be once or twice a year, rather they would prefer to buy a branded dress or trousers or top that will cost them Rs7000 or so. So most of the saris that come under the category of corporate collection are reasonably priced,” said Sanya.
