latin American paletas are now available here in fruity and creamy flavours

When you first come across this pink van with some cute graphics, what comes to mind are those small trolleys selling ice lollies. But this is something better and bigger than that. This food van in Gurgaon has become popular in little time among people of every age group. Called Frugurpop, this van is known for its hand-crafted paletas (popsicles in Mexican).

Paleta is a latin American ice pop usually made from fresh fruit. Paletas are a common concept abroad but it is for the first time that we have a food van selling them here, thanks to self proclaimed foodies Pallavi Kuchroo and Sudheer Grover. After starting the concept in Mumbai and getting a wonderful feedback, Pallavi and Sudheer brought the concept to Delhi.

“These popsicles are completely hand-crafted and available in many flavours. The fruit flavours are made from 100 per cent natural fruits and no artificial colours or flavours are used. They are also much lower in calories as compared to other desserts and ice candies available in the market. We are also working on a sugar free range,” says Pallavi. They picked up the idea from abroad and “what was interesting was the fact that they can be made in so many flavours.”

Apart from the fruity flavours like apple cinnamon and rosemary, mango cheesecake, kiwi strawberry lemonade, there are some creamy options, too, like tiramisu, Oreo cookies and cream, banana date nutella pistachio and le chocolatier. “So far our van has been in Sector 57, Gurgaon, but as a concept this is fast picking up in private parties. It is not just the kids who are picking up these popsicles but even adults are giving their favourite desserts a miss for them,” says Pallavi.
