Arjun Kapoor, who was discouraged by his family and friends to take up acting, says his conviction in himself has made him what he is today
Arjun Kapoor looked every inch of a dapper when he launched Honor’s new smartphones in the Capital. The actor appeared suave, sporting his new mohican look and impressed female audience with his chivalry. What rather amused us more was how he took potshots at AIB’s controversy. “last time I took a microphone and smiled, I got a million YouTube hits as well as legal cases,” he quipped. Kapoor related to the brand’s philosophy and said he had been brave enough in his personal life to take challenging decisions, becoming an actor being one of them. “Bravery has nothing to do with the physicality of an individual. It is linked to your heart, courage and strength. I’m brave because I can stand up for myself. I felt brave when I decided to become an actor,” he said.
Arjun was overweight and was discouraged when he decided to become an actor. However, it was his own belief and conviction that shot him to fame. “I remember how family, friends and relatives commented when they got to know about this decision. Everyone advised me not to take up acting since I was a huge 150 kgs guy. Nobody could even, in their wildest dreams, imagine me on screen. They were like, ‘If you really want to pursue showbiz, you can become a director or do some other job in the film business, but acting.’ Such comments didn’t dishearten me as I would have said the same had I been there at their place. But once I convinced myself that I could do it, I left no stone unturned to don the actor’s hat,” he said.
