A day before the release of his film, love you family, Bollywood’s favourite villain Shakti Kapoor recalls his journey and talks about the mindset of today’s generation with Shalini Singh
Shakti Kapoor may be famous for his villainous roles on screen, but in real life, he’s a fun person, who gets excited with the smallest of things. Ask about his film, animatedly he shares, “love You Family revolves around today’s youth who forget their responsibilities towards their parents and rebel against them. It is a woman oriented film in which a young girl falls in love with a boy and later on realises that it is an infatuation.”
“The film will tell you how youngsters become rebellions and leave everything behind and then a moment comes when what they called love turns out to be a nightmare. It will show how the family comes in to protect the girl and gives out a message that when you have family by your side, nobody can break you,” adds Kapoor emphasising on the mindset of the rebellion young generation.
About his role in the film he says, “I am playing a sardar who is a father of one of the heroes. The hero is in love with the girl but she is busy in her own problems and she doesn’t even know that he loves her, but his father keeps encouraging him and inspires him to fight for who he loves.”
A family man and father of two says that every parent want their kids to be happy in their lives. “In my family I have given Shraddha full freedom. She has the freedom to correct me whenever I am wrong. I don’t believe in ‘Dad is always right concept’. We are very cool,” he chuckles.
Having worked in over 700 movies he asserts that, “Indian cinema has changed to a great extent. The technical part has changed, everything has become faster and great movies are being made today. Earlier the movies were more of a sob story where hero-heroine kept fretting over their marriage and family issues, but the things are not like that anymore.”
He reminisces his journey and remembers how his mother always backed him when his father wanted him to join family business. “Today the kids have got really rebellious. Earlier they dared not to raise their voice in front of their family but today if a girl falls in love she won’t look back. No matter in which generation you are, family will always remain family. Once you watch the movie you will understand that. I would say even a broken family would get united after watching this movie.”
Kapoor wishes that his film works well like Hindi medium.
“There are theatre mafias these days, they don’t let low budget cinema get theatres but I am sure once the audience gets into the theatres, they would love the film. It is based on a strong subject. I wish this movie to work well like Hindi medium because any good movie can do well,” he says while he urges the audience to watch the movie with their families.
