Dedicating few minutes daily to Raj Yoga is a meaningful expression of caring for yourself that can help you move through the mire of feeling unworthy, says Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunj
Yoga — the word has now become omnipresent and is literally on everybody’s mouth. Its really unbelievable that how this euphoria has touched the hearts of people across 192 countries. This whole thing started with Indian PM Narendra Modi’s address at the United Nations in 2014 where he expressed his wish to dedicate a day as the International Day for yoga. To everyone’s surprise the UN agreed to sanction the event and nine months later, the whole world was preparing for a yoga spectacle and a couple of Guinness world records, too.
Yoga as a method and practice has evolved over centuries since the time it was developed in ancient India. As on today, for a seeker, there are so many forms and branches of yoga to choose from and hence at times one gets confused as to which is the best one for me. However from a practical point of view, real Yoga is the one that does not merely give temporary health and happiness but the highest stage achieved through yoga is the one where no behavioural ailments, mental tensions or worries exist.
In fact, it wont be wrong to say that it is an ideal method of curing physical and psychological disorders for several births. Today it is being stated by the political pundits that ‘yoga’ is the best soft power that India possesses to bring the world together and end the increasing trend of violence. In a way its perfectly a right statement because looking at the present situation of the world, it can be aptly said that a perfect world order cannot be attained through war of weapons merely, but through the power of yoga.
Of all the Yoga techniques taught by various yogi’s over centuries, Raj Yoga has been termed as the king of all yoga. Before getting into practise of this unique method, it is essential for an aspirant to have a clear image of Supreme. Yoga in actual sense means union or link. It is union of the self (soul) with supreme (almighty) for which there is a prerequisite that an aspirant needs to follow. He/she must understand a fact that we are soul and not body. All our physical and mental sufferings are a result of our failure to remain in soul consciousness which has today made our lives miserable.
However, through Raj Yoga we can totally change this situation because every soul in its original nature, is pure and peaceful and hence with proper guidance and practice it is possible to live a life without stress, worries and tension. Dedicating few minutes daily to Raj Yoga is a meaningful expression of caring for yourself that can help you move through the mire of feeling unworthy. It involves the turning of one’s mind and the flow of love in the direction of Almighty. It is a technique of self-exploration, leading to the experience of heightened and expanded awareness, reaching God and bringing Him into the focus of the soul’s awareness. The principal object of Raj Yoga is to bring the self in conscious touch with Almighty, thus making it increasingly aware of its divine origin, divine destiny and divine and peaceful real nature.
