This karvachauth, women will be dressing up in heavy sarees and gaudy jewellery to avail exciting deals and discounts being offered by restaurants. Riya Sharma reports

last year, clicking a selfie at the Moolchand flyover with the perfect shot of moon was the new exciting element that married women had found. This year, even those who do not believe in enhancing their features with the help of curl-on and mascara, would be decked up from head to toe — not to allure their husband. But, to avail the tempting offers and discounts that restaurants are providing for the night when married women shower their love on their husbands by fasting all day long.

From many years, what we have seen is that even women who dislike make-up would wear a red-heavy embroideredsareeor lehenga of their wedding to feel like a newly-wed bride they once were. Though this involves keeping a fast (which does not even allow you to have a sip of water) is a different issue altogether. But,every year, all the beautiful ladies manage to surprise us — whether it is about standing out from the crowd in terms of their attire, or organising karvachauth pujas, all women out there have never disappointed us.

As this year, we were wondering what could be the ‘new’ that they would do, we were amazed to hear that restaurants besides offering the delectables at their respective venues would also be organising challenges and contests for all lovebirds. Gaurav Mehta from Global Food Factory told us that they plan to hold a contest among the couples heading for dinner at their restaurant. “We are organising a contest where men would be asked five questions about their partners. It is a way of checking their compatibility. The winning couple will win a gift from our side,” he added.

He further told us that as the festive season is running high on people, most of them prefer vegetarian so they have added some new starters and desserts in their buffet. “For the ladies out there, we are planning to do a special Karvachauth pizza today,” he said.

On the other hand, newly opened Garam Dharam is all set to offer a complimentary meal to the best dressed today. So, if you plan to go to this place today, be prepared to be called as Dressed to Kill.

Umang Tewari from Garam Dharam shared with us, “Right from the welcome drinks to a special menu called garam special is on offering only for today. Hence, we are ready to offer some fresh and delicious dhaba food to ladies.”

Rajat Kapoor, owner of Grub House told us that after fasting, it is surely a feasting time for women. “Wives keep a fast for their husbands and they leave no stone unturned to make it a grand feast for them. We are launching a special package called, My wife’s favourite, where we are offering salads, soups, starters and everything delectable. Not only this, we also are laughing a special drink called Wife’s Signature which would be complimentary for all ladies visiting Grub House only for the occasion,” he added.

So, whether it is about decking-up for a day or gorging on food after the tiring long day of fasting, this is your day ladies. Go out and enjoy the attention and offers that you deserve because who doesn’t like to be treated after not even having a single bite for the whole day.

What men thinkIJ

Shaadi.com, the online matchmaking service conducted a survey to know whether men believe in old traditions and customs. When they were asked, ‘If they understand the concept of karwachauth — 58.8 per cent married men said ‘yes’ followed by 41.2 per cent  said ‘no’, that they don’t understand the concept. And 61.4 per cent married men agreed with their wives fasting for them and 38.6 per cent said ‘no’ to the question.

When they were finally asked ‘If fasting has any impact on their relationship’, 73.9 per cent replied in affirmative and said it helps strengthen the relationship. On the other hand, 26.1 per cent  said — ‘not necessarily.’
