Who says reality shows are business for those who can’t find enough workIJ The forthcoming season of Khatron Ke Khiladi features contestants like Ashish Chowdhary, Meiyang Chang, Iqbal Khan and Sagarika Ghatge who swear they are only serious about acting and will participate in the adventure show to enhance their onscreen appeal
Gear up for change
For someone who got a chance to make her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan and later do a film with Emraan Hashmi, it is tough to believe that there was any dearth of film offers. So what made Sagarika Ghatge decide to do an adventure reality show on the small screenIJ “I thought I will do this to have a different experience. I was offered the show in the past as well and I had always said no. I was not willing to do this. But this time I thought, why notIJ It is the right time when I can test my abilities and find out how adventurous I am. The kind of stunts and activities that we will get to do on the show are something that adventure junkies are desperate to do. I know that many people pay a huge amount of money to do all these adventure activities, so when I am getting a chance I should make most of it,” said the actress. She said that she has been “strictly” away from reality shows but this one is an exception. “People have different reasons for doing reality shows. But my only purpose is to try something new, I can’t be doing all kind of dance, comedy and other kinds of reality shows. Once this is over, I will get back to acting in films. I will have a film releasing very soon,” shared Sagarika.
In the name of adventure, Sagarika has hardly tried anything before but she ensures that she will be a “sport” and reveal the not-so-known side of her personality to her fans. “I am not going to tell people what are my strengths and weaknesses, I think it is better to let them decide that,” she said.
Man on a mission
Pretending to be highly dramatic on a reality show is an art only a few can master. Iqbal Khan claims he is definitely not amongst those and therefore has stayed away from reality shows so far. “I am a private person and I am not interested in the drama and politics of reality shows therefore whenever I have been approached I have said no. This time it is purely because I want to attempt something new and overcome some fears that I may have but don’t know about by being part of this reality show,” said the actor who was seen in shows like Tumhaari Pakhi. Iqbal says he has been particular about the kind of work that he chooses. “It is important that I should enjoy what I am doing on screen. I just can’t do anything and everything. Even this show is something that would challenge me on new levels,” said Iqbal who has tried bungee jumping and sky diving in the past and is training himself for under water stunts.
Though he is not sure how much he would love doing all the action for the reality show, he is preparing himself for all sorts of challenges that will come his way. “I would surely want to come out as a winner,” he said.
Break the clutter
Who would want to spend a holiday doing life-daring stunts and hanging out with creepy crawliesIJ Well, apparently that’s what Ashish Chowdhary would want to do just to take a break from work. The actor will now be seen in the reality show hosted by filmmaker Rohit Shetty. As the crew is gearing up to begin the shoot for the show in Cape Town, Ashish is preparing himself for a “break.” He says that last two years were really hectic in terms of work and Khatron Ke Khiladi came as an ideal opportunity to take a break from mundane routine. “Everything in my life has been moving as per a certain schedule and I hardly had any time for myself. I was planning to take a break when this opportunity came my way,” said Ashish. He says, he isn’t “fit” for most reality show on television as “I can hardly dance and I cannot do all the drama and politics of reality shows.” Thankfully, he will be spared from all that in this show and in an utmost honest tone he said, “Reality shows are a good platform to make money and get exposure. There are people who may not watch daily soaps but they love watching reality shows. So I would be lying if I would say that I am not here for money or exposure.”
The actor has always been an adventurous soul and strenuous workouts have been a part of his schedule, so he is not bothered about his performance levels on the show. “But I am only scared of cockroaches. I will be happy doing everything as long as they do not ask me to get into a box full of cockroaches,” he said.
