Titan smartwatch
India’s top watchmaker got into smart watches earlier this year with the launch of the JUXT. Now it is hoping to gain more traction with the upgraded JUXT Pro which is the company’s first fully smart watch which runs on a proprietary OS but is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The watch features a full touch circular display and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Intel processor, sports 512MB of RAM and also includes 4GB of built-in memory out of which 2.3GB is available for the user.
Interesting features include ability to control your phone’s camera and music playback from your wrist and there is a fitness tracker built in. You can also get notifications from various apps and weather information. The JUXT Pro comes in black and silver, ships with a leather strap and is priced at Rs 22,995 and is available from Flipkart and World of Titan stores across India.
Fitness tracker with a difference
Earlier this month GOQii introduced its new fitness tracker, the GOQii Band 2, along with some features which make it much more impressive than other wearables in the market. The band comes with an integrated USB connector and does away with the need for an additional charger. The first version of GOQii debuted with a coaching service and now the company is taking it one step further with integration of a health service with doctors, health locker, health risk assessment, and diagnostics on its platform.
GOQii has tied up with Max Healthcare and Thyrocare for medical care and diagnostics and most of the reports will be available from within their app itself. There is NFC and even mobile payments, which is probably the first in India for a wearable due to their partnership with Axis bank. Unlike other gadgets which are a one-time purchase, you need to subscribe to their service which starts at Rs1,999 for three months, Rs2,999 for six months and Rs3,999 for one year and is available at goqii.com.
Video calling made simple
Announced back at Google I/O earlier this year, Google has finally released its free video-calling app to users worldwide. Called Duo, the app is extremely simple to use and lets you get on a video call with your friends in a matter of seconds. It works both over WiFi and mobile data. Once you download and install the Duo application, you would need to register using your mobile number to get started. Duo is seen as a competitor for Apple’s Facetime which is limited to Apple computers and iOS devices.
High quality video-calling previously required a computer with Skype installed and a webcam and a fast internet connection. Now all you need is your smartphone with a good camera and a fast internet connection. The app is available as a free download on both Google Play store for android devices and Apple App Store for iOS devices.
