Arun Kuckreja's trilogy pays tribute to human emotions. The filmmaker chatted with Pallavi Gupta

Names like Marilyn Monroe, Gregory Peck and Elizabeth Taylor are not only head-turners but also fascinating. And hearing them leaves you bewildered making you want to know as to how these legendary names have been clubbed together. An ode to Hollywood’s biggest names in the form of a movie trilogy has been presented by Arun Kuckreja.

The first in the trilogy is The Cinematic Graffiti: Elizabeth Taylor In A New Avatar In And As Medha. Inspired by a childhood friend Medha, the story is to salute her beatitude of life. “She has had numerous heart surgeries and several heart transplants. Medha was supposed to live only a few months many years back but she has lived on. I am not Vincent Van Gogh but have painstakingly and timely painted on the little canvas called life, colorful portraits true to life… is a poem I dedicate to her. I was very nervous while doing Medha for it would have been suicidal had I not done justice to her story,” says Kuckreja. Medha, the life long portrait of a lady is symbolised on celluloid by the world’s most beautiful woman, Elizabeth Taylor and this cinematic graffiti is a tribute to this legend.

The second movie is The World Premiere Of Gregory Peck’s Film: Facebook Diva. The short film presents the amazing, Gregory Peck as a Facebook user and introduces Rohini Killough as the Facebook diva. Kuckreja explains, “I haven’t met Rohini in person but we have been friends for long on Facebook. Recently her father passed away and following this dark incident she totally cut off from Facebook. Her friends left her messages inquiring her well being but she seemed to have vanished. And this inspired me to write the screenplay for Facebook Diva and the film thus highlights why did Rohini go gumshuda.”

Arun experiments with his films as he believes without experimentation there cannot be any growth in his art. All his 40 plus films have been uploaded on YouTube to reach his audience internationally. The director says, “I have uploaded videos and fortunately till now I have never got any dislike on any of the film except for one. I feel blessed that it has been liked by people.”

The final segment presents the movie The World Premiere Of Marilyn Monroe’s Film: Arunima. The film is on feminism which brings to light that a woman is the finest creation of God. The movie features world’s cultural icon, Marilyn Monroe as the leading lady. “I believe every woman is a true Arunima, a ray of Sun for the family. The existence of the mankind collapses in her absence. This short film is dedicated to all the women of the world,” said Kuckreja.

Kuckreja is known for making autobiographical films; ranging from 10 to 130 minutes. His screenplay circumvents real characters and story. He says, “For me to make a film I need to feel it. I need to know whether my audience feels the same. I prefer to make autobiographicals because that is my only motivation. I am on a journey of lonesomeness and through autobiography I get the needed passion required for transforming a real life act into a screenplay.”
