The SDMC today took a lead in involving the students of its primary schools and their parents in disseminating the need of cashless transactions by organising the first ever workshop for more than 2500 teachers in two separate sittings at Civic Centre wherein a number of audio-visuals prepared by the Niti Ayog were screened. A Member of Parliament and the President Delhi BJP, Manoj Tiwari addressing the participants as Chief Guest exhorted teachers to educate parents and society to ensure success of an initiative taken by the Prime Minister Narender Modi.

He described the decision of demonetisation as a bold and historic step of the Prime Minister. He further stated that hidden black money becomes useless for the country as it produces no earning. The dumped black money also loses its value gradually. In fight against terrorism elimination of black money has emerged as a harsher weapon than AK-47. He further stated that the right place for the persons involved in black money is jail.

While appreciating the SDMC for organising the first ever workshop on the cashless transactions Tiwari stated that involving teachers at the first instance will ensure the acceptance of the digital technology to fast expand the ambit of cashless transactions. The teachers can communicate the essence of cashless transactions to the students who will definitely make reference of the same in the family and society. This way they can function as an ambassador of social change which will go a long way in popularising the new methods of transactions. Tiwari expressed hope that the fight against black money will result in hefty decrease in the income tax rates. Over 107 crore Aadhar Cards have been issued, over 70 crore debit and credit cards are in circulation and over 100 crore mobile phones including 40 crore smart phones are being used in the country; all this can ignite a sense of adopting cashless transactions. He expressed confidence that the new year will bring happiness for the taxpayers, poor and honest persons. Tiwari also interacted with the teachers on this subject.

The teachers were educated in this workshop about the use of five means i.e. depit/credit/prepaid cards, UPI, USSB- Micro ATM Machines, Aadhar enabled payment systems and electronic wallet for cashless transactions. The doubts of the teachers on the cashless transactions were clarified and ensured that such transactions are safe and secure.
