I Kaur was a part of a day-long shoot of a song sequence from TV show Qubool Hai in Pushkar. She spoke to the star cast and experienced on-the-spot frenzy

One imagines a television shoot to be a am-packed affair, with the janta trying to get over one another to get a glimpse of their favourite telly stars. But it was just another day for the people in Pushkar. Camera crew must have had a sigh of relief to have found such a calm and peaceful location to shoot one of the scenes from Zee TV’s Qubool Hai. The lead pair of the show — Karan Singh Grover and Surbhi Jyoti shot a sad song sequence near Pushkar. The on spot scene was like what we have seen in some movies and serials. Couple of minutes before the shoot cameramen hurriedly moved from one spot to another, checking the arrangements and some crew members took care of the hero and heroine of the show. A sad score played in the background and the black dupatta was used as a metaphor for sadness. It flew over the actors’ face and some takes and retakes were done to make sure that the piece of cloth flows in the right manner. After the director Gul Khan was assured of the scene the shoot was packed and it was the time when the cast and the director had couple of minutes to share details on the change in the story of the serial. “Zoya (female lead protagonist of the show) and Asad (male lead) decided to part ways due to some misunderstandings. They end up facing each other in Ajmer where they confess their love for each other,” said Gul. Karan Singh Grover said that he loved the intensity of his character. The actor also spent his day in Pushkar barefoot on burning sand. “My audience expects a lot from me and it is my duty to deliver the best. The song we were shooting for was about pain and the heat and sand made the pain reflect on our faces easily,” he commented. Thanks to the heat, the actor suffered a headache and had to excuse himself from the gathering of a few people. Surbhi Jyoti shared more details. “I am similar to Zoya in real life. She is bubbly and free-spirited and she loves to talk. It makes easy for me to perform,” she told us.

Surbhi did a Punjabi serial before Qubool Hai and shared that “I never had a problem adjusting to the script, but I had problems adjusting to the city’s weather. After ludhiana, Mumbai was bad for my skin and hair which worried me a lot because it affected my appearance on screen.”

The show that gained popularity because of the good chemistry between free-spirited Zoya and conservative Asad showed the couple part ways and choose the Ajmer Sharif Dargah as their meeting point. According to Zee TV, the Dargah gave the show an authentic touch. The spokesperson said that they could have shot the same thing at any other place but to make the audience connect to the show better, they chose Ajmer.
